Landspirits and animism

Saga of Olaf Tryggvasson – the four major landspirits of Iceland are a dragon, an eagle, a bull and a giant.  These are now on the national Icelandic coins and the Icelandic coat of arms.

Ibn Fadlan sees the Rus leaving offerings out for landspirits, which dogs eat.
